Compass

Marset, 1997

Compass was the first lamp I designed for Marset. I always like to remember how the idea came to me. I just moved to another home and our kitchen was wider. There was an extendable table to eat, illuminated by an orange methacrylate semi sphere hanging from the ceiling. But, when I extended or moved the table, the lamp was no longer in the center. That is when I came up with the idea. Went down to the hardware store, bought a piece of cable and a hook, and, with a chrome tube that I already had at home, using the same orange semi sphere, I solved the problem. That is how the Compass lamp was born.

The technology for its production is quite simple and artisanal. The important thing about this lamp is that it solves a specific problem, the screen can be positioned with a simple gesture according to our needs… backward, forward, up, down, and a 360 turn.
